What is the Pomodoro?

A gentle rhythm of focus and rest. You choose one thing, give it a short whole-hearted stretch, then pause. Pomodoro is simply the Italian word for tomato.

It was shaped by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, and named after the little tomato-shaped kitchen timer he used as a student to hold himself to one task at a time.

How it works: pick a task, focus for one round (25 minutes by default), then take a short break. After four rounds, rest a little longer. You can set your own lengths in Settings.

Why it helps: a large task feels lighter in small pieces, your attention gets a clear edge to lean on, and rest is built in on purpose, not squeezed in at the end.

Time is the one thing none of us can make more of. At The Time Edit, we believe it is precious, and that it should feel like yours. So we made you this little tool, free, private, and always here, to help you give your hours to what matters.
